UPDATE - Alert from the NAC: San Onofre Beach

September 2010, at least four citations were issued for nudity in early September. All four citations were reportedly issued by the same park ranger who is reportedly "stalking his quarry through field glasses or through the viewfinder of a camera from the top of a cliff overlooking the beach."

Citations for nudity at San Onofre are being issued under California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 14, section 4322, a misdemeanor.

Background: The Director of California's Department of Parks and Recreation had announced that the application of a nearly 30-year state policy respecting traditional nude use in certain sections of state parks was to be revoked at San Onofre Beach. The Naturist Action Committee (NAC) filed a lawsuit in July 2008 to force the state to hold proper public hearings before any change in the current policy that allows nude use at San Onofre Beach.

NAC won at the Superior Court level in August 2008. The appellate court ruling favored DPR in June 2009, but the ruling was initially unpublished. At the request of DPR, the appellate ruling was published. NAC also requested the California Supreme Court to depublish. As reported October 22, 2009, The California Supreme Court has refused to hear Naturist Action Committee (NAC)’s appeal of the appellate court’s ruling in the San Onofre lawsuit, and also denied NAC’s request to de-publish.

The result of the published ruling is that DPR may issue citations for nudity under Title 14, Section 4322 of the California Code of Regulations AT ANY UNIT OF THE STATE PARK SYSTEM.

Midwest Male Naturist Gathering
June tba, Gaea Retreat Center, near Kansas City, Kansas. Join 175 naked gay men for this informal gathering at Camp Gaea which has over 100 very private acres of hilly woodland and grassland to explore and a lake with a swimming area, dock and boats.

International Men Enjoying Naturism Gathering
'10- July 11-18, northeast Maryland. Last year 175 men attended from all over the world for a week of naked camaraderie and fun in this park-like setting in the rolling hills of northern Maryland.

Gay Naturists International 26th Annual International Gathering
August 20-29, in Eastern Pennsylvania. Features entertainment and recreational activities, 800 naked men are expected to attend.

West Coast Gathering

June tba, San Francisco and other cities worldwide, protests world dependence on fossil fuel by riding bikes across San Francisco and other cities naked.

Nude Recreation Week
July 5-11, Nude Recreation Week is a celebration of naturism around the world and an opportunity to encourage first timers to enjoy clothes-free relaxation during the week wherever they are.

The Burning Man Project
August 30 - Sept 6, Black Rock Desert. Community of the artistic, creative, outlandish and often weird, is popular with many naturists and other free thinkers.

Nudestock Music Festival
September 17-19, Laguna Del Sol, Wilton. 12th annual Summer of Love Celebration relives the music and mood of the Sixties and Seventies, live performances by several bands.
