UPDATE - Alert from the NAC: San Onofre Beach

Citations for nudity at San Onofre are being issued under California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 14, section 4322, a misdemeanor.

Background: The Director of California's Department of Parks and Recreation had announced that the application of a nearly 30-year state policy respecting traditional nude use in certain sections of state parks was to be revoked at San Onofre Beach. The Naturist Action Committee (NAC) filed a lawsuit in July 2008 to force the state to hold proper public hearings before any change in the current policy that allows nude use at San Onofre Beach. NAC won at the Superior Court level in August 2008. The appellate court ruling favored DPR in June 2009. As reported October 22, 2009, The California Supreme Court has refused to hear Naturist Action Committee (NAC)’s appeal of the appellate court’s ruling in the San Onofre lawsuit.

The result of the published ruling is that DPR may issue citations for nudity under Title 14, Section 4322 of the California Code of Regulations AT ANY UNIT OF THE STATE PARK SYSTEM.

Public Opinion:

April 21, 2012, Olive Dell Ranch, Colton. The only nude 5K run in Southern California is a trail run through the beautiful foothills of Olive Dell Ranch.
